Home Lab

Title: My Home Lab & Infrastructure

”This website is a live production environment managed and hosted by me. It serves as my personal R&D lab where I implement enterprise-grade solutions for personal use.

The Server & Workspace:

  • Main Workstation: Arch Linux – chosen for its transparency, flexibility, and rolling-release model.
  • Server Hardware: HP ProBook (Headless Debian + CasaOS).
  • Management: Remote administration via SSH and secure private mesh networking through Tailscale.

Self-Hosted Ecosystem (De-Googling): I have moved away from traditional Big Tech ecosystems to a fully self-hosted stack to ensure data privacy and system control:

  • Nextcloud: My private cloud for file synchronization, calendars, and productivity.
  • Immich: A high-performance self-hosted photo and video management solution (replacing Google Photos).
  • Security: All services are tunneled through Cloudflare for secure public access without opening home network ports.

Title: Current & Future Projects

”I am constantly evolving my infrastructure to match industry best practices. My current focus is implementing a professional-grade backup strategy.

  • Project: 3-2-1 Backup Strategy Implementation
    • Goal: Ensuring data integrity and disaster recovery.
    • Phase: Currently setting up a remote secondary server (Off-site) to fulfill the ’1’ in the 3-2-1 rule (3 copies of data, 2 different media, 1 off-site).
    • Tech: Utilizing secure encrypted tunnels to sync data between my primary Debian server and the remote node.
